Ordering a Custom Gown From Overseas: Shipping, Customs and Tracking
When ordering a Reinee Couture custom gown from overseas, plan for four separate stages: order and measurements, production, final video approval, and international shipping. Confirm the current production timing with the team on WhatsApp before ordering, use accurate delivery details, leave a buffer for customs and courier delays, and treat the live Shipping Policy as the source of truth for current shipping terms.
How does ordering a custom gown from overseas work?
The process begins by choosing the gown and confirming the order details with the Reinee Couture team. The current How to Buy process is handled with a live support agent on WhatsApp, where sizing, measurements, available custom requests, payment, production timing, and shipping details are confirmed.
Do not rely on a general estimate from an old message or article for production timing. If your event date is fixed, ask the team to confirm the timing for the specific gown before you order.
What measurements do you need for an overseas custom gown?
Accurate measurements are important regardless of where the gown is being delivered. Use the Size Guide and the Custom Gown Measurement Guide, and record the unit clearly.
If the gown is being made using custom measurements, follow the measurement instructions rather than adjusting the numbers to make them smaller. If standard sizing is being used, compare bust, waist, and hips together. The Made-to-Order Gown Guide explains the difference between made-to-order production and custom measurements.
What happens during production?
Once the order, payment, and required measurements are confirmed, the gown enters the production process according to the arrangement made with the team. Production timing can vary by design, fabric availability, customization, and scheduling, so it should be confirmed before ordering rather than assumed from a general rule.
Major design and customization details should be settled before production. Once the gown reaches its final stage, only small or minor adjustments may be practical.
What is the final video approval?
Once the gown is completed, Reinee Couture provides a detailed final approval video before shipment. The customer reviews the finished gown before dispatch. This final video applies whether the order was secured with a deposit or paid in full upfront.
If the order was placed with a deposit, the remaining balance is completed after final approval and before shipment. If the order was paid in full upfront, shipment proceeds after the customer confirms approval of the final video.
How does the deposit and balance work?
The current How to Buy process allows custom-made gown orders to be placed with a 50% deposit or with full payment upfront. For a deposit order, the remaining 50% is due after completion and final video approval, before shipment. The current Shipping Policy describes the 50% production deposit as non-refundable, so review the live policy and refund terms before purchasing.
Because payment terms are policy-sensitive, always use the current Shopify policy pages rather than relying on an older screenshot, message, or saved article.
When does international shipping begin?
Shipping starts after the gown has been completed, the final video has been approved, and full payment has been received where a balance remains. Production time, sourcing, and approval are separate from the shipping transit estimate.
The current Shipping Policy lists shipping timelines in business days and treats them as estimates rather than guarantees. A shipping estimate is not a promise that the parcel will arrive before a particular event date.
Will I receive tracking for my gown?
Yes. The current Shipping Policy states that tracking numbers are provided for the available shipping methods once the order is dispatched. Keep the tracking number and monitor the shipment, especially when the parcel enters the destination country.
Tracking is useful, but it cannot prevent customs holds, courier interruptions, weather events, or other delays outside the seller’s direct control.
What address details should you check before dispatch?
Confirm the recipient’s full name, street address, apartment or unit number where applicable, city, postal code, country, and working phone number. Incorrect or incomplete details can cause delays or failed delivery.
The current Shipping Policy places responsibility on the customer for accurate shipping information, so check the address carefully before dispatch rather than relying on a courier to correct it later.
Will I have to pay customs duties or import taxes?
Possibly. International parcels can be subject to customs inspections, import duties, taxes, or clearance requirements depending on the destination country. These charges and rules are set by the destination authorities, not by Reinee Couture.
The current Shipping Policy states that customs fees, taxes, and clearance requirements are the recipient’s responsibility. If you want to estimate possible charges, check the official customs guidance for your country before ordering.
What happens if customs or the courier asks for information?
Respond promptly. A courier or customs authority may request confirmation of identity, address, parcel value, invoice information, or other documentation required by local rules. Delays can grow while the carrier is waiting for the recipient to respond.
Use the tracking information to identify the carrier and communicate through its official channels. Be cautious with unexpected payment links or messages that cannot be verified against the actual shipment.
Can you change the shipping method after the gown has been dispatched?
Do not plan on it. The current Shipping Policy states that shipping changes, upgrades, or downgrades cannot be made once the gown has shipped. Confirm the shipping option and delivery address before dispatch.
How much time should you leave before an event?
Leave a buffer beyond both production and shipping estimates. Production and shipping are separate stages, and customs or courier delays can occur after dispatch. Confirm the current production timing with the team on WhatsApp before ordering, then choose a shipping option that makes sense for the destination and event date.
For the planning logic, see the Custom Dress Planning Timeline. The same principle applies to galas, weddings, birthdays, and other fixed-date events.
What if your event date is very close?
Do not assume a standard made-to-order gown can be completed in time. Ask the Reinee Couture team what is realistic for the specific design. If timing is too tight, browse Ready to Ship pieces, which are already produced and available only in their listed size.
What should you do when the gown arrives?
Try the gown on promptly with the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear. Check the bodice, hem, closure, movement, and overall comfort while there is still time for local finishing if needed. Keep the packaging until you have inspected the gown and confirmed the fit.

The Reinee Couture international-order rule
Keep production and shipping as separate parts of the calendar. The gown must be completed, reviewed in the final video and fully cleared for dispatch before transit begins. After dispatch, customs and courier timing are outside the production timeline and can add uncertainty even when the gown itself was completed on schedule.
Tracking is provided on Reinee Couture's tracked shipping services. Economic Shipping is the exception and does not include tracking, so it is intended for flexible timelines rather than urgent fixed-date events. Always use the live Shipping Policy for the current service options and terms.
